The Long Bob Hairstyle -- New Trend for 2009 is the Long Bob

The biggest trend in hair for 2009 so far has been the long bob, not long hair, not short hair, but cut somewhat blunt and just above the shoulders. Here are the rules of getting this coveted hairstyle.

1. Longer bobs, like Liv's, can be bland if too blunt. Stacked layers in the back add dimension.

2. A bob can't be too layered, or it's not a bob. Gwyneth's bob here is more edgy because the stylist thinned out the ends with scissors or a razor.

3. Ask the stylist to make your bob a touch shorter in the back.

4. This cut works on straight and wavy hair (you'll see what I mean in the next images). It's a versatile cut because you can wear it wavy or flat-ironed.

The shorter bobs are a cute too. I like short and sexy hairstyles for summer. As fashion goes it looks like short hair and variations of it will still be around for quite a while. Speaking of bobs… I was showed a girl the other day who used that DIY product at http://www.cutabob.com and I kid you not the a-line bob haircut looked nearly identical as one done at our salon. Well of course it wasn’t and she was happy to tell me she just bobbed her whole family of four girls and her sister… Very impressive results and I don’t doubt it will save her some money without looking like mom cut it herself.
